RESILIENCE is that ability to tolerate challenge and adversity, in whatever form, with strength and purpose. That quality requires courage, mindfulness to this moment, and flexibility to deal with unexpected answers and the need to shift gears. In my work, whether with oppositional toddlers and their families, anxious grade-schoolers, young adults transitioning to life beyond their families, or families struggling with separation/divorce, I have found it to be THE critical challenge, and I am honored to have the opportunity to address that with you in our work together.
I fell in love with Charlottesville as a graduate student in the School/Clinical Child Psychology program at UVA’s Curry School. I moved on, eventually becoming part of the busy urban clinical and pediatric practice community of Newport News, also nurturing a community presence for the valuable Collaborative practice of divorce. After 30+ years in that community, I now am embracing a return to the more relaxed and artsy vibe of Charlottesville, bringing these skills and experiences with me. I have much enjoyed reconnecting with friends and colleagues, and I’m getting to know this community all over again through my clients here! While I will miss the waterways, I already am embracing the mountains and the music of this community, and I look forward to contributing to it’s healing process.
